Book Description

She waited twelve years for the perfect moment. But the perfect moment never came.

Alice McBain has spent her life pleasing everyone but herself—her husband, her daughter, her friends, and especially her boss, Marilyn Morgan. But Marilyn isn’t just the mayor of Tuckaway Bay and Alice’s superior—she’s also the woman Alice has secretly loved for over a decade.

Now, with Marilyn preparing to run for a state Senate seat, she insists on keeping their relationship under wraps until after the election. Her constituents—and her husband—must never know.

But Alice is tired of hiding. After years of whispers and waiting, she wants more than secret glances and stolen moments. She wants the life they’ve dreamed of—out loud and in the open.

When Alice finally takes a stand, the carefully constructed façade of her life begins to crumble. The fallout touches everything—her marriage, her family, even Marilyn’s campaign. And the woman who’s always put others first must decide what love means when you finally choose yourself.

A poignant, powerful story of identity, sacrifice, and the courage to live—and love—authentically.

About the Series

The Tuckaway Bay series is upmarket women’s fiction that delves into the heart of women’s journeys—stories of resilience, reinvention, and rediscovery against the backdrop of a small coastal town. Each novel explores the unbreakable bonds of female friendship and sisterhood as women face life’s pivotal moments. With deeply emotional storytelling, the series invites readers to walk alongside women who gather strength from one another when life doesn’t go as planned.

Decisions

I have enjoyed the Tuckaway Bay series so far. This story was about Alice and her affair she has with her boss, the mayor, who is also a female. George, Alice's husband, and Alice are still living in the same house even after he finds out about the affair. Alice finally comes to a decision in her life after facing some truths. This story is very different than the rest in the series.

I Wish You Love

Book 5 in the Tuckaway Bay series is Alices story. Alice is a very complicated character and Ms Jaimes does an excellent job of writing all her various parts as she tries to find her own place in life. She has spent her life pleasing and caring for everyone else and now she is ready for Alices time. What that looks like shes not sure yet but shes ready to find out.

Alice straddles two worlds

Alice straddles two worlds: gay or straight. Which way will she go? This book involves six former ECU college women who meet up annually for beach therapy in Tuckaway Bay, North Carolina: Lia, Maggie, Julia and Alice. Their stories have been told separately in previous books. This book is about Alice. Alice and her husband George have been living together but not together since Alice told him about the affair she was having with her female boss, Marilyn. Thing is Marilyn is running for State Senator and keeps putting Alice off. No, they cannot come out because it might damage Marilyns chances at winning. Through the course of this book, many revelations will occur. Some good and some not so good. Interesting ending for one of Ms. Jaimes books. Read it and see what you think With each book in this series, we get to see a bit of the lives of the women from the previous books, how they are faring in their new life; whether because of second chances, marriage ending, or other reasons these women are more resilient together than apart. If you like women centric stories with drama, angst with a new plot from this author, you really must read this book; heck, read this entire series! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout. The next book will be about the missing twin sisters: Wren and Willow who are now in witness protection. Oooocant wait!

An exquisite women's fiction

Alice has a secret, a secret not even her best friends know about. Shes been having a secret affair for years with Marilyn, the mayor of Tuckaway Bay. Their relationship has to stay private for various reasons. But Alice is tired of living with this secret. She wants to be out in the open, but Marilyn keeps pushing it off. When their secret comes to light, everything falls apart. Alice wonders if the happiness shes been promised is nothing but a lie. After several years of taking care of others, will Alice have the courage to put herself first? I Wish You Love: Alices Story is a heartbreaking story of being true to yourself, loving in secret, and finding the courage to break away from toxic relationships. From the start, the descriptive narration is immersive and pulls you into the story. This is womens fiction at its best, full of realistic life events and emotional scars. There were so many times I cried for Alice and the other characters. I Wish You Love: Alices Story is an unforgettable read. If youve read other books in this series, youre familiar with Alice and her mother hen approach. She takes care of everyone except herself. In this tale, you get to experience the emotional turmoil she faces on a daily basis. By the time you reach the end, you will feel every emotion possible. Madeleine Jaimes has penned another exquisite womens fiction novel. The writing is emotional and true to life. Readers who enjoy Susan Wiggs will love I Wish You Love: Alices Story. My Rating: 5+ stars
